Gake Kannon ("the cliff temple") is a temple which also goes by the name Daifuku-ji Temple. It is built on a cliff on the side of Mount Funakata. There are beautiful views from there, as it overlooks Tateyama Bay and Oshima Island. This magnificent temple was founded in the year 717 by a preist named Gyoki with the intention of praying for the safety of people traveling on the seas. It features a sculpture of the Buddhist goddess Kannon.
